Parent Campaigner
At Save the Children UK, we believe every child deserves the best chance in life to be happy and healthy. But the pandemic has shone a light on how challenging life is for many families who are struggling to get by on low incomes.
This crisis is pulling more families into hardship. Many parents, already struggling before the crisis, have now seen either their hours reduced or lost work entirely. It’s made keeping up with rent, school expenses, food shopping and bills even tougher. Does this sound familiar?
Your voice can change lives.
If you are receiving Universal Credit or Child Tax Credits and have a child under 18, we'd like to hear from you. If you want to improve the benefits system and you’re able to volunteer some time to campaign with us, this role could be perfect for you! Campaign activities might include helping shape policy solutions by sharing your opinion with us, meeting your MP or attending events with Parliament. Support, training and resources are available from our Campaigns Team, so you don’t need specialist experience to apply. Your experience of receiving benefits and passion for change is what’s most important.
Volunteering can fit around your responsibilities, and you can decide which campaign activities are best suited to you. There is flexibility on the amount of the time you give - meetings are currently either weekly or fortnightly, but you’re not obliged to attend all of them. We appreciate you have a busy life and we will do our best to fit around you.
How you’ll hear about your application
Once you’ve applied, you’ll receive notifications to the email address you apply with. Sometimes the emails we send about your application go into junk folders. We will keep in touch with you through an email address ending in @save-the-children.goassemble.com, do check your junk folder for confirmation of your application and other messages from us.
