Youth Advisory Board Member
Save the Children’s Youth Advisory Board are looking for thoughtful, enthusiastic, trailblazing young people to join them.
You can apply if you live in the UK, are aged 12 to 17, and can attend virtual monthly meetings, as well as 3 weekend meetings a year for the next two years.
It's important that what Save the Children do and say represents what young people really care about as our voices deserve to be heard. As a member of the board, you’ll work together and help shape projects across Save the Children’s fundraising, campaigning, media, and brand work in the UK.
You don’t need any particular skills or experiences; all you need is passion, ideas, and a willingness to learn and work alongside others to make the world better for other children.
To make sure we’re representing young people fairly, it’s important that the board is made up of a range of young people from different backgrounds and experiences. We are always keen to receive applications from anyone who is Black, Asian, or from a minority ethnic background, LGBTQ+, disabled, a young carer, or a refugee.
In addition to the above, we’d particularly encourage you to apply if you are:
- Aged 12 – 14
- From working class and/or low-income backgrounds
- From Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the North of England
As these groups are currently underrepresented on the board.
To apply, click the 'Click Here to Apply' button. You’ll be asked to create and account and answer 4 questions, which you can find on our information pack in downloads. We will be reviewing applications from early January, and applications will close on Sunday 30th January 2022. We will hold phone and video interviews from late January/early February 2022.
Please make sure you watch the short video, available to watch here and also found in Downloads, so you can meet some of our current Youth Advisors and hear a bit more about the application process.
Thank you for taking the time to apply, we’re really looking forward to reading your applications!
Please note: Unfortunately, you’re not able to apply if one of your parents or close family members works for Save the Children or sits on the Board of Trustees.
