Cheer on our London Marathon runners on Sunday 2nd October 2022
If you've got a loud voice and love being part of the action, we’ve got the volunteer role for you! We rely on volunteers to make sure each event day is a great success. You do not need any prior experience, just bring your enthusiasm!
It really is a case of ‘the more the merrier’, so if you can rustle up a group of friends to appear at the event, that would be even better!
These are some of the things you might be involved in:
- Spotting our Save the Children runners as they run past the cheer point, calling their name and giving them a huge cheer as they pass.
- Making as much noise as possible and cheer on our Save the Children runners to show them how proud we are of their achievements. This will give them a huge boost on their way round the course.
- Shout, sing and use the provided musical instruments!
- Cheering on all runners as they pass, even if they are not running for Save the Children. (If we make their race memorable, we might encourage them to run for us next year!)
- Welcoming friends and family who come along to cheer on their runners.
Where are the cheer points?
Save the Children are setting up 2 cheer points at the London Marathon. One will be outside Mudchute DLR station (Mile 17 of the route) and the other along the Embankment (Mile 25).
As well as the opportunity to volunteer at one of the 2 cheer points, we are looking for people to meet our runners at the end of the marathon by Admiralty Arch and walk with them to our post-race reception.
Please note that you will be required to be standing for the full duration of your chosen role, there is no seating available at this event. If you have any special requirements, please mention them in your application.
