Young Peacemakers Assembly (Yemeni Community)

4 months

Are you aged 14-17 and want to make the world a better place for children in conflict and those living as refugees? Be a Young Peacemaker and put your voice and concerns in front of politicians.

We're asking young people who have experienced conflict and/or being a refugee to come together to work on a project that we can take to decision-makers. Your experience and views can create a lasting impact that would protect children's lives in conflict and as refugees.

We’re looking for people who are willing to talk about their experience of conflict and/or of being a refugee. As part of the opportunity, you will receive training on how to talk to decision-makers, gain an understanding of politics and Westminster and deepen your knowledge of children's rights. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with 25 other Young Peacemakers to determine the most impactful project to improve the lives of children affected by conflict. We prioritize your well-being and provide a safe space for you to share your experiences, be heard, and bring about meaningful change.

You can apply if you:

  • Live in the United Kingdom

  • Are aged 14 to 17

  • Are from the Yemeni community

  • Are able to commit to attending 6 events, 3 online and 3 in person, for 4 months starting May 2023. Online meetings will be with Save the Children staff and other Young Peacemakers. In-person events include training events, the creation of the final project and an overnight residential event.

To make sure we’re representing young people fairly, it’s important that the Young Peacemakers’ Assembly is made up of a range of young people from different backgrounds and experiences. We want a diverse group of young people with different languages, genders, religions, races, cultures and abilities. In order to reflect this the Young Peacemakers will be comprised of individuals from various countries who have been affected by conflict.
