Youth Advisory Board Member
Save the Children’s Youth Advisory Board are looking for thoughtful, enthusiastic, trailblazing young people to join them.
You can apply if you live in the UK, are aged 12 to 16, can attend monthly virtual meetings, as well as 3 weekend meetings a year for the next two years.
Our voices deserve to be heard.
As a member of the board, you’ll have a platform to express your ideas and work together to help shape projects across Save the Children’s work in the UK – it’s important that what Save the Children do, and say, represents what we really care about.
You’ll also have the choice to take part in a range of unique experiences. In the past, our youth advisors have attended meetings with politicians, delivered speeches at events, engaged with media, and featured in Save the Children campaign videos.
You don’t need any particular skills or experiences. All you need is passion, ideas, and a willingness to learn and work alongside others.
In order to maintain the diversity of the board and make sure we’re representing young people fairly, it’s important that the board is made up of a range of people from different backgrounds and experiences.
We would particularly encourage you to apply if you are:
-
Aged 12-14
-
A young person of colour
-
From working class and/or low-income backgrounds
-
From Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the North of England
We are always keen to receive applications from anyone who is LGBTQ+, disabled, a young carer, or a refugee.
The board meet regularly:
-
Virtual meetings the first Wednesday of every month, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
-
In-person meetings take place in April, August and October.
To apply, click the ‘Click Here to Apply’ button. You’ll be asked to create and account and answer 4 questions, which you can find in our information pack in downloads.
Applications will close on Sunday 17 September. We will hold phone and video interviews the week beginning Monday 25 September.
Thank you for taking the time to apply, we’re really looking forward to reading your applications!
Please note: Unfortunately, you’re not able to apply if one of your parents or close family members works for Save the Children or sits on the Board of Trustees, or if a sibling or close family member is part of the existing Youth Advisory Board.
