Young Peacemakers Assembly

Are you aged 14-17 and want to make the world a better place? Do you want to see no children hurt or killed in wars? Do you want to see refugees treated fairly?

Save the Children is looking for young people to join the Young Peacemaker Assembly. We’re looking to work with young people from Afghan, Somali, South Sudanese, Sudanese, Syrian, Ukrainian, and Yemeni communities who are passionate about using their voices to bring about meaningful change for children and refugees affected by conflict.

As a Young Peacemaker you will be working with a diverse group of young people all focused-on campaigning for a better world. As a group, you will work together to choose a project that can make a big difference in the lives of children and refugees who have been affected by conflict.

Your voice is powerful. By sharing your experiences and thoughts you can inspire people with power to take real action for children and young people.

You will receive trainings on how to deliver a campaign, how talk to decision makers, and learn more about Save the Children's work around the world. We would also like to hear what matters to you and what skills you would like to get from this experience, and we will try our best to meet them.

We prioritize your wellbeing and provide a safe space for you to share your experiences, be heard, and bring about meaningful change.

You can apply if you:

  • Are aged 14-17
  • Are from Afghan, Somali, South Sudan, Sudan, Syrian, Ukrainian or Yemeni community
  • Live in England
  • Can attend 4 in-person monthly meetings starting in October. The December in-person meeting will be an overnight residential. All related costs for in-person meetings will be covered by Save the Children UK.

To make sure we’re representing young people fairly, it’s important that the Young Peacemakers’ Assembly is made up of a range of young people from different backgrounds and experiences. For this reason, we strongly encourage you to apply if you’re a young girl from any of the communities listed above.

To apply, click the ‘Click Here to Apply’ button. You’ll be asked to create and account and answer 4 questions in English, which you can find in our Applicant Information Pack in downloads.

Applications close Monday 17 September 2023, and we will then hold interviews by phone or video call in the following weeks.

If you need help with the application, or have any questions relating to the process, please reach out to us at ypa@savethechildren.org.uk.

Please note: To reach a wide range of young people, applications from close family members cannot be considered for this opportunity.

Thank you for taking the time to apply, we’re really looking forward to reading your applications!
