Shop Admin Volunteer (Sheffield)

Opportunity image

It's not common in the charity sector but most of our shops are run entirely by volunteers. If you'd like to be part of a team but think that shop volunteering isn't for you, what about helping with the admin?

You'll be helping us to make sure the shop admin is up to date and the team understand what to do for any admin tasks for finance, volunteering, resources and health and safety.

You'll have lots to get stuck into such as completing and filing weekly finance figures and replying to any queries about takings or banking – though the banking will be done for you. As not all volunteers are confident with using a computer you'll be helping them update their contact details and shift availability too. You'll also be updating the shop notice board with information from the central office team as well own as adding the volunteer rota six weeks in advance. This way volunteers know when their shifts are and when any shifts need covering.

As shops need lots of resources, you'll also be ordering these (by phone and on websites), such as carrier bags, volunteer recruitment leaflets, stationery, donor declaration forms and pricing guns! And let's not forget health and safety – it's not complex but so important to make sure all of the forms are up to date. As with everything, we'll show you how to do that.

If you're over 18 years old and can spare a couple of hours, once a week that would be fantastic. It's a great role to pick and choose when you want to volunteer, as you can be flexible within the shop opening hours.
